A 2023 American superhero film based on Marvel Comics, The Marvels is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It serves as a sequel to Captain Marvel from 2019, continuing the story from Ms. Marvel’s 2022 television miniseries, and marks the 33rd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Nia DaCosta, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. Starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, the movie also features Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson. The characters Danvers, Rambeau, and Kamala form the team known as "the Marvels" after they start swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.

Marvel Studios announced intentions to create a sequel to Captain Marvel in July 2019. Development started in January 2020, with McDonnell brought on board following her work on WandaVision (2021). Larson was confirmed to reprise her role as Danvers, and DaCosta was hired to direct in August. In December, it was revealed that Parris would return as Rambeau from WandaVision and Vellani would reprise Kamala from Ms. Marvel. Second unit filming commenced in mid-April 2021 in New Jersey, with the title—referring to the three protagonists and their shared abilities—announced in early May. Principal photography began in July 2021 and wrapped by mid-May 2022, filmed at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, as well as Los Angeles and Tropea, Italy. Karasik's participation was disclosed during the post-production phase.

The Marvels had its premiere in Las Vegas on November 7, 2023 and opened in the United States on November 10 as part of Phase Five of the MCU. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, appreciating the performances and action scenes but criticizing the script and tonal shifts. At the box office, it was a failure, earning $206.1 million worldwide against an estimated production budget of $374 million, making it the lowest-grossing film in the MCU and one of few not to recoup its theatrical investment.
