Initial development commenced in March 2023, featuring Hathaway as the primary actor. McGregor entered the project in February 2024, followed by Stella and Convery's addition in March. That same month, the movie lacked a title until it was designated as Flowervale Street. Principal photography commenced on March 22 and concluded on June 4, utilizing Atlanta for exterior scenes. Originally slated for release in May 16, 2025, the film's debut was postponed to March 13, 2026, then delayed again. In March, it was announced that the title had changed to The End of Oak Street, with Michael Giacchino responsible for composing its musical score.

The End of Oak Street made its debut at the Steven J. Ross Theater on August 9, 2026, followed by a nationwide theatrical release in the United States on August 14 through Warner Bros. Pictures. Critics responded favorably to the film, which earned $122 million globally compared to its production cost ranging between $80 and 92 million.
