The Cat in the Hat represents an upcoming American animated fantasy comedy motion picture derived from the 1957 children's book authored by Dr. Seuss. This production received writing and directing duties from Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, constituting the second full-length interpretation of the literary work after the 2003 live-action presentation. Bill Hader provides vocal performance for the main character, joined by Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, and America Ferrera.
Illumination Entertainment initially declared an animated version of The Cat in the Hat during 2012, capitalizing on The Lorax's financial achievements, with Rob Lieber assigned to compose the screenplay, though this project ultimately failed to materialize. Warner Bros. acquired the book's rights in January 2018. Rivinoja and Art Hernandez were selected to direct in October 2020 before the latter was substituted by Carloni in June 2023. The majority of performers were revealed in March 2024, with DNEG handling animation services. Supplementary casting occurred in June 2025.
This film is set for theatrical distribution within the United States on November 6, 2026 through Warner Bros. Pictures.
