Work on a live-action Peter Pan movie started in April 13, 2016, with Lowery taking on the directing role. Lowery was later announced as the screenwriter alongside Halbrooks, and the production team spent the following four years refining the script for the remake. Additional scenes were shot on the Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador during August 2021, as well as in the Faroe Islands and the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland.
