Supergirl (2026 film) is a 2026 American superhero motion picture adapted from the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El / Supergirl. The film was directed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, serving as the second cinematic entry within the DC Universe (DCU). Milly Alcock portrays the titular character, supported by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa. In this installment, Kara sets out across the galaxy in pursuit of an enemy responsible for injuring her companion Krypto. Production was handled by Peter Safran and James Gunn under the banner of DC Studios.
Development of a Supergirl film began as part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in August 2018, with the character first appearing in the 2023 movie The Flash, played by Sasha Calle. When Gunn and Safran assumed co-CEO positions at DC Studios in October 2022, they shifted focus toward rebuilding the DCEU into the DCU. A new Supergirl film was unveiled in January 2023, based on the 2021–22 comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Nogueira was brought on board by November 2023; Alcock was cast in January 2024 for the inaugural DCU film, Superman (2025); and Gillespie joined the project that same May. Principal photography occurred between January and May 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, London, and locations in Scotland.
The movie had its premiere at the Plaza at 300 Ashland in Brooklyn on June 22, 2026, followed by a theatrical release in the United States through Warner Bros. Pictures on June 26. It is included in the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Critics offered mixed reviews, and the film underperformed financially, earning $126.4 million compared to its production cost of $170–186 million.
