A 2026 American animated comedy film, The New Simpsons Movie follows the original 2007 Simpsons feature. It represents the second theatrical adaptation of the long-running Fox sitcom created by Matt Groening. The project was conceived after the first movie's release, though development stalled for years. In September 2025, Disney officially announced plans for a sequel following their acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019. The working title The Simpsons 2 was later replaced with the final name. An official announcement occurred at D23 in August 2026. The film is set for release in the United States on September 3, 2027 through 20th Century Studios.
