Werwulf 2026
Coming December 25, 2026Historical horrorSupernatural horror
Werwulf represents an upcoming period gothic folk horror production helmed by Robert Eggers, who collaborated with Sjón on the screenplay. The motion picture features Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, and Lily-Rose Depp. This 14th-century English setting narrative centers on a community terrorized by a creature endangering a man and his household.
Following the critical and financial achievements of Eggers' Nosferatu (2024), Focus Features declared Eggers' subsequent project scheduled for December 2026 distribution. Role announcements occurred in July, including Taylor-Johnson, Dafoe, Depp, and Ineson reuniting with Eggers. Principal filming commenced in September 2025 and concluded in January 2026, utilizing Sky Studios Elstree along with multiple sites throughout England and Wales.
Werwulf anticipates U.S. debut through Focus Features on December 25, 2026, while Universal Pictures will distribute the film in Great Britain on January 1, 2027.
