The Odyssey is a 2026 epic action fantasy motion picture penned and helmed by Christopher Nolan, who co-produced the work alongside his spouse Emma Thomas. This adaptation of Homer's classical Greek epic poem the Odyssey features a large ensemble cast comprising Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. Within the narrative, Odysseus (Damon), the Greek monarch of Ithaca, embarks upon an extended and dangerous voyage back home following the Trojan War, meeting legendary creatures during his quest to return to his spouse, Penelope (Hathaway).

Nolan initiated screenplay development in March 2024 and finalized the project with Universal Pictures by October. The Odyssey was unveiled in December. Casting occurred from late 2024 into early 2025, with Damon confirmed as the principal role in February 2025. Nolan reviewed various renditions of the Odyssey prior to choosing a realistic portrayal of Greek mythology, influenced by the historical epics Andrei Rublev (1966) and Ran (1985), along with the visual effects work of Ray Harryhausen. Principal photography took place from February through August 2025 across Morocco, Greece, Italy, Scotland, Iceland, Western Sahara, and Malta, in addition to Universal Studios Lot in Los Angeles. With an approximate budget of , it ranks among the most costly productions in Nolan’s career, marking the inaugural feature film shot entirely using IMAX's 70 mm film cameras.

The Odyssey debuted at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London on July 6, 2026, preceding its theatrical rollout by Universal Pictures on July 17 within the United States and the United Kingdom. The release was offered in IMAX and various premium large formats. Critics praised the direction, acting, and visual sequences, although certain reviewers noted Nolan's departures from the original text. The film earned worldwide, establishing itself as Nolan’s most financially successful movie, the second-most lucrative film of 2026, the highest-grossing R-rated production ever, the most profitable release under Universal, and the eleventh-top-grossing motion picture in history.
