A 2026 American science fiction film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (known on-screen as The Mandalorian and Grogu) was directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Lucasfilm and Fairview Entertainment handled production, with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures managing distribution. It is part of the Star Wars universe and continues the story from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2019–2023). Din Djarin / The Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, was also portrayed on set by Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder. Supporting cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Jonny Coyne, Martin Scorsese, and Sigourney Weaver, along with appearances from Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hemky Madera, Shirley Henderson, and Steve Blum. The story follows events after the Galactic Empire’s collapse, where Djarin and his apprentice Grogu are hired by the New Republic to retrieve Rotta the Hutt (White) in return for intelligence about a target.

Favreau and Filoni worked on a fourth season of The Mandalorian by February 2023, though filming was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood labor strikes. During this period, Lucasfilm rethought their approach and chose to make a standalone film instead of continuing the season. The film was officially announced in January 2024, with Favreau set to direct and co-write alongside Filoni and Kloor, while Pascal returned to his role from the series. Principal photography started in California by August 2024 and wrapped by December of that year, with significant portions shot in IMAX format. Additional casting was revealed before and after filming, including returning characters from The Mandalorian and other Star Wars projects. Composer Ludwig Göransson returned to compose the film’s soundtrack.

The film had its premiere on May 14, 2026 at TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, followed by a U.S. release on May 22. It earned $345.8 million worldwide, falling short of Disney's projections and becoming the least successful live-action Star Wars movie. Critics offered mixed feedback, praising the musical score, action scenes, and Pascal’s acting but criticizing the storyline, dialogue, and visual effects.
