A 2026 American horror film, Resident Evil marks the eighth live-action installment in the series derived from the popular video game franchise created by Capcom. The movie was directed by Zach Cregger and written by Cregger and Shay Hatten. Austin Abrams portrays Bryan Hodukavich, a medical courier thrust into combat against a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City. Supporting actors include Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Constantin Film initiated development of a new reboot in early 2022 after the unsuccessful release of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City in 2021. Cregger joined the project in January 2025, with PlayStation Productions from Sony Interactive Entertainment becoming involved. Multiple studios, including Warner Bros. Pictures and Netflix, competed for the film rights, with Sony Pictures securing the deal in March. Principal photography commenced in October 2025 in Prague and wrapped in January 2026.

The film made its debut in Los Angeles on September 15, 2026 before opening in US theaters on September 18 through Sony Pictures Releasing. It earned $384.5 million at the box office, surpassing its $75 million budget. This achievement makes it Cregger's most financially successful film and the top-grossing entry in the Resident Evil franchise. Critics responded favorably, with the movie ranking as the highest-rated video game adaptation on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
