Moana represents a 2026 American musical adventure motion picture and serves as a live-action reimagining of Disney Animation's 2016 production. Functioning as the overall third entry and inaugural live-action addition to the Moana series, this movie received direction from Thomas Kail with screenwriting duties assigned to Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. Production credits include Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, and song contributor Lin-Manuel Miranda. The cast features Johnson (who returns as Maui from the animated films), Rena Owen, John Tui, Frankie Adams, Jemaine Clement (who reprises his role as Tamatoa from the animated works) and Catherine Laga'aia making her cinematic debut as the central figure.

Announcement of a live-action Moana film originated with Johnson in April 2023, followed by Kail being named director in the subsequent May. Laga'aia was confirmed for the title role in June 2024, together with the primary supporting ensemble. Principal filming took place across Atlanta and Hawaii from July through November 2024. With a production cost reaching $250 million, Moana ranks among the most costly movies ever produced.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributed Moana within the United States on July 10, 2026. Contrary to its predecessor, this version performed poorly at cinemas, collecting $323.6 million globally compared to a $250 million budget, and garnered mixed to unfavorable critiques from reviewers.
