Iron Lung represents a 2026 American independent science fiction horror movie featuring writer, editor, and director Mark Fischbach—recognized online as Markiplier—in his first full-length directing effort. The production originates from the 2022 video game created by David Szymanski. Work on adapting Iron Lung into film commenced in April 2023, when Markiplier declared his intention to convert the game into a movie. Having previously demonstrated the game on his YouTube platform, Markiplier indicated that the project would be independently written, funded, and feature himself together with Kaplan. Szymanski contributed throughout pre-production, supporting narrative development and participating during filming. Iron Lung was independently released in North America by Markiplier on January 30, 2026. Critics offered varied responses to the film, while it achieved commercial success, earning $51 million globally.
