The Legend of Zelda 2027
Coming April 30, 2027FantasyFantasy adventure
The Legend of Zelda represents an upcoming fantasy adventure motion picture adapted from the video game franchise created by Nintendo. Wes Ball serves as director while T. S. Nowlin wrote the screenplay. Production involves Columbia Pictures, Nintendo, and OddBall Entertainment as producers. Leading roles feature Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Bo Bragason, Uli Latukefu, Dichen Lachman, Yvonne Strahovski, Lydia Peckham, and Sam Neill who appears in one of his final cinematic performances.
Imagi Animation Studios previously pursued a Zelda film project in 2007 but received rejection from Nintendo due to the poor performance of the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie. Nintendo revealed this production in 2023 following extensive development work by the franchise's originator, Shigeru Miyamoto, and the film's co-producer, Avi Arad, spanning multiple years. Principal filming commenced in November 2025, exactly four months after announcements regarding Ainsworth and Bragason's casting, concluding in April 2026.
This Zelda picture prepares for North American distribution on April 30, 2027 through Sony Pictures Releasing.
