Bad Fairies represents an upcoming animated musical fantasy comedy directed by Megan Nicole Dong and penned by Deborah Frances-White and Zoë Tomalin, incorporating original compositions by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss. This contemporary London-based production centers on a group of fairies who disregard all regulations. The movie will feature the voices of Cynthia Erivo, Ncuti Gatwa, Jonathan Groff, James Acaster, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, Catherine Tate, and Kylie Minogue.
Locksmith Animation initiated development of this original musical comedy film in June 2021 concurrently with That Christmas (2024) when CEO Sarah Smith was succeeded by Natalie Fischer. Dong assumed directorial duties while Frances-White authored the screenplay in June 2023, including the official title revelation. Marlow and Moss subsequently joined to create original musical content for the production, with Isabella Summers orchestrating the soundtrack, and DNEG Animation providing the animation services.
This film is set for theatrical release on May 21, 2027.
