Action thriller

A 2017 American action thriller film, Kidnap was directed by Luis Prieto and written by Knate Lee. The movie features Halle Berry, Sage Correa, Chris McGinn, and Lew Temple in leading roles. Its plot centers on a working mother hunting for her kidnapped son. Production involved di B Pictures, Lotus Entertainment, 606 Films, Gold Star Films, Ingenious Media, Well Go USA, and Rumble Entertainment with a budget set at $21 million. Announced in September 2014, principal photography took place in New Orleans and Slidell, Louisiana between October and December 2014.

Relativity Media, the original distributor, went bankrupt in 2015, causing multiple delays. In May 2017, Aviron Pictures obtained distribution rights. Kidnap made its debut at ArcLight Hollywood on July 31, 2017 before opening nationwide on August 4. Reviews were divided, with praise for Berry’s acting but criticism aimed at the script and direction. At the 49th NAACP Image Awards, Berry received a nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
