A 2017 American superhero film based on the DC Comics team, Justice League follows events after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). The movie was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, RatPac-Dune Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment, and Cruel and Unusual Films, and distributed by Warner Bros. It is the fifth entry in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, the film includes an ensemble cast made up of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, and J. K. Simmons. In the story, Batman and Wonder Woman gather the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg after Superman’s death to face Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons threatening the world.

Warner Bros. started developing a live-action Justice League film in 2007, with George Miller attached as director, but the project was halted due to production issues and budget problems. Principal photography occurred from April through October 2016. Following Zack Snyder’s departure after the death of his daughter, Joss Whedon was brought in to manage post-production work, including writing and directing new scenes, and reshooting significant parts of the movie. Despite these changes, Snyder kept full directorial credit. The film had an estimated production cost of $300 million, making it among the most expensive movies ever created.

The premiere took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on November 13, 2017, with a U.S. release four days later. Critics gave the film mixed to negative reviews, and it earned $661.3 million worldwide, falling short of its assumed break-even point of $750 million, resulting in a box-office failure. A director’s cut titled Zack Snyder's Justice League was later released on HBO Max in 2021, following a campaign by fans supporting Snyder's intended version of the movie.
