A 2017 American animated musical fantasy film, Coco was directed by Lee Unkrich and written by Adrian Molina and Matthew Aldrich. The production was handled by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures, with voice work provided by Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía, and Edward James Olmos. The story centers on Miguel, a 12-year-old boy from Mexico who finds himself in the Land of the Dead after an accident. He turns to his deceased musician great-great-grandfather for assistance in returning home and resolving his family's long-standing ban on music.

The idea for Coco draws from the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead. Pixar began working on the animation in 2016, with Unkrich, Molina, Anderson, and parts of the cast visiting Mexico to gather material. The musical score was composed by Michael Giacchino, who had previously worked on other Pixar films. With a budget ranging from $175 to 225 million, Coco became the first movie with a nine-digit budget to feature an all-Latino main cast.

The film made its debut on October 20, 2017 at the Morelia International Film Festival in Morelia, Mexico. It opened in Mexico the following week, just before , and was released in the United States on November 22, 2017. Critics praised Coco for its animation quality, voice performances, music, visual effects, emotional depth, and cultural sensitivity toward Mexican traditions. The movie earned over $823million globally, making it the 15th-highest-grossing animated film at the time of release. Coco won two awards at the 90th Academy Awards and received many other honors. It was named Best Animated Film of 2017 by the National Board of Review. A follow-up titled Coco 2 is set for release on November 21, 2029.
