Biographical drama

Breathe is a 2017 biographical drama film made by Andy Serkis in his first directorial effort, with a screenplay written by William Nicholson. The movie tells the true story of Robin Cavendish, who developed polio at age 28 and became paralysed from the neck down. Starring Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Hugh Bonneville, Tom Hollander, Ed Speleers, and Dean-Charles Chapman, the film premiered worldwide at the 42nd Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September 2017. It opened in the United States through Bleecker Street on 13 October 2017 and in the United Kingdom via STXinternational on 27 October 2017. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, commending Serkis's direction and the acting by Garfield and Foy, though noting that the story emphasized romance over Cavendish's disability and family experiences.
