Action thrillerSpy

A 2017 American action thriller film, Atomic Blonde follows a spy tasked with locating a list of hidden agents being smuggled into the West just before the Berlin Wall falls in 1989. Directed by David Leitch in his first feature film role, the movie uses a screenplay written by Kurt Johnstad, adapted from the 2012 graphic novel The Coldest City by Antony Johnston and Sam Hart. Starring Charlize Theron as co-producer, alongside James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, and Toby Jones, the story unfolds during this pivotal historical moment.

The film made its debut at South by Southwest on March 12, 2017 before opening in the United States on July 28 through Focus Features. It earned $100 million globally, exceeding its $30 million budget. Critics responded positively, often drawing comparisons to the John Wick series, which Leitch helped shape as an uncredited co-director and producer of the first film. A sequel was later announced in development.
