Willy's Wonderland is a 2021 American action comedy horror film that uses an unusual premise involving animated characters. The movie was directed by Kevin Lewis and features a screenplay written by G. O. Parsons. Nicolas Cage stars in the film and also produces it, joined by Emily Tosta, Ric Reitz, David Sheftell, and Beth Grant. The plot centers on a quiet drifter who gets caught up in cleaning an old family entertainment center where eight killer animatronics are possessed by the spirits of a cannibal and his accomplices.
The project began development in October 2019 when screenwriter Parsons came up with the concept. Nicolas Cage became involved after being drawn to the role, taking on both acting and producing duties. Director Lewis was brought on board in December 2019, with principal cast members signing on in February 2020.
Originally scheduled for a global theatrical release on October 30, 2020, the film faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It instead premiered through video-on-demand services, while also showing in select theaters across the United States on February 12, 2021 via Screen Media. Critics responded with mixed reactions, though Cage's acting was particularly noted.
