Mystery, thrillerPsychological thriller

A 2021 American psychological thriller film, The Woman in the Window was directed by Joe Wright and written by Tracy Letts, adapting the 2018 novel by A. J. Finn. The story centers on an agoraphobic woman (Amy Adams) who starts observing her new neighbors (Gary Oldman, Fred Hechinger, and Julianne Moore) and witnesses a crime in their apartment. Supporting cast includes Anthony Mackie, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Produced by Fox 2000 Pictures, this film marked the final production of the company. Originally planned for a theatrical release through 20th Century Fox in October 2019, it faced delays until May 2020 and was later acquired by Netflix because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie premiered on May 14, 2021 and became one of the top-performing Netflix films of 2021. Reviews were divided, while the source novel inspired a 2022 Netflix dark comedy series titled The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, which parodies elements from the psychological thriller genre.
