The Suicide Squad is a 2021 American superhero film based on the DC Comics team of the same name. It was written and directed by James Gunn, making it a sequel to the 2016 film and the tenth entry in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The movie features an ensemble cast that includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Sylvester Stallone, and Viola Davis. In the story, a group of prisoners is recruited into a mission called the "Suicide Squad" in return for reduced sentences. They are dispatched to the South American island nation of Corto Maltese with orders to eliminate all evidence of Starro the Conqueror, an enormous alien creature, before it can be controlled by local authorities.

Warner Bros. Pictures initially brought Gavin O'Connor on as director but he exited due to creative disagreements. As a result, Gunn took over both writing and directing duties after being temporarily removed from his role on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) by Disney and Marvel Studios. His approach was influenced by war movies and John Ostrander's 1980s Suicide Squad comic series. Principal photography occurred between September 2019 and February 2020, mainly in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as locations in Colón, Panama, and Porto, Portugal. This production built the largest sets ever constructed for a Warner Bros. film.

The movie had its first screening in the United Kingdom on July 30, 2021, followed by a wide release in the United States on August 5, at the same time showing in theaters and on HBO Max. Unlike the previous installment, this version received favorable reviews from critics and became the second most-watched DCEU film on HBO Max. It earned $169million worldwide while costing $185million to produce. Its box office success was linked to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, its streaming availability, and its connection to the first Suicide Squad movie. After this film, a spin-off series titled Peacemaker debuted in 2022, followed by Creature Commandos in 2024. A new television project named Waller is currently in development.
