The Addams Family 2, also titled The Addams Family 2: Road Trip, is a 2021 animated supernatural black comedy film derived from characters designed by Charles Addams and functioning as a direct follow-up to the 2019 film The Addams Family. The movie was directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, with screenplay contributions from Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, Ben Queen, and Susanna Fogel, and a story credit to Hernandez and Samit. Voice actors include Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Javon Walton, Wallace Shawn, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler, and Bill Hader. The narrative follows the Addams family during a road trip.
United Artists Releasing distributed the film theatrically in the United States on October 1, 2021, with an international release handled by Universal Pictures on October 8. Simultaneously, it was made available for online rental in the U.S. and Canada. Despite its promotional efforts, the movie underperformed compared to the original and garnered mostly critical disapproval. This film concluded United Artists Releasing’s animated film distribution when the company merged into MGM on March 4, 2023, marking the end of theatrical animated releases from that studio.
