Spiral (2021 film) is a 2021 American horror thriller film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. It is the ninth installment of the Saw film series and functions as a spin-off following Jigsaw (2017). The movie features Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson in leading roles, depicting police attempts to halt a Jigsaw copycat killer. Original series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, along with Chris Rock and veteran producer Kevin Greutert, acted as executive producers.

Discussions for a new Saw movie started after the last film’s release, with Chris Rock expressing interest in entering the horror genre. The project officially launched in May 2019, with Chris Rock finalizing a script written by Stolberg and Goldfinger. Additional cast members were confirmed in July, and principal photography occurred in Toronto during that month and into August.

Originally scheduled for release in May 2020, Spiral faced delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was eventually released in the United States on May 14, 2021 by Lionsgate Films. The film earned a total of $40.6 million domestically against a $20 million budget, marking it as the lowest-grossing entry in the franchise. Critics offered mixed reviews. A tenth movie, Saw X, premiered in September 2023.
