Backrooms represents a 2026 American psychological horror motion picture directed and co-scored by Kane Parsons (marking his first feature film as director), with screenplay penned by Will Soodik. The project originates from Parsons's web series, which drew inspiration from the "Backrooms" creepypasta. Within the narrative, furniture store proprietor Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and his counselor Mary (Renate Reinsve) encounter a realm of boundless transitional areas accessible via the store's basement. Supporting roles are played by Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.

Following the release of the web series in January 2022, Parsons attracted interest from multiple studios, including A24, regarding potential film adaptation. In February 2023, confirmation emerged that development had commenced on a feature-length version of Backrooms derived from Parsons's content, with him assuming directorial duties. Originally, Roberto Patino was assigned to compose the script, though he was later substituted by Will Soodik. Principal filming occurred in Vancouver between July and August 2025.

The film debuted at the Aero Theatre located in Santa Monica, California on May 7, 2026, followed by a theatrical release in the United States through A24 on May 29. Critics responded favorably, and it generated $400 million globally, establishing A24 as their most successful movie ever and positioning Parsons as the youngest filmmaker to achieve top rankings at both domestic and international box offices. Backrooms ranks as the second-most profitable horror film of 2026, while also being the fifth-highest-grossing independent film throughout history.
