Survival horror

Silent Hill 2 is a 2024 survival horror video game developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami Digital Entertainment. It serves as a remake of the 2001 title Silent Hill 2, which was originally created by Team Silent, a team within Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET). This release marks the first major entry in the Silent Hill series since Silent Hill: Downpour in 2012. The game follows James Sunderland, a widower, who returns to the town of Silent Hill in Maine after receiving a letter from his deceased wife, Mary, claiming she is waiting for him there.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 was officially unveiled in October 2022, following extended rumors and leaked details. It was led by creative director Mateusz Lenart and produced by Motoi Okamoto from Konami. Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka, who worked as creature designer and composer for the original, participated significantly in this version's creation. According to Maciej Głomb, Ito contributed concept art for environments and creatures, while Yamaoka returned to compose music.

Silent Hill 2 launched on PlayStation 5 and Windows on October 8, 2024, later arriving on Xbox Series X/S on November 21, 2025. Critics responded positively, highlighting its narrative, visuals, ambiance, acting, and loyalty to the original. By October 2025, it had sold more than 2.5 million copies and received multiple award nominations, including from the British Academy Games Awards, Golden Joystick Awards, and Game Awards.
