The Bible with Sources Revealed 2003
The Bible with Sources Revealed is a 2003 book written by American biblical scholar Richard Elliott Friedman that examines how the first five books of the Torah or Pentateuch (known as the "Five Books of Moses") were composed. Friedman uses the four-source documentary hypothesis framework, though he varies from Julius Wellhausen's version in multiple ways.
Friedman supports Wellhausen's dating of the Deuteronomist source to the court of Josiah, around 621 or 622 BCE. However, he assigns the Priestly source to the court of Hezekiah instead. This results in Friedman's order of sources being Jahwist–Elohist–Priestly–Deuteronomist [JEPD], unlike Wellhausen’s sequence of Jahwist–Elohist–Deuteronomist–Priestly [JEDP] in his Documentary Hypothesis model. Similar to Wellhausen, Friedman identifies a final redaction during Ezra's time, approximately c. 450 BCE.
