All the Seas of the World 2022
All the Seas of the World is a historical fantasy novel written by Canadian author Guy Gavriel Kay and published May 17, 2022 by Viking Press. Set against the backdrop of Renaissance Italy, the Mediterranean, and North Africa, the story serves as a pseudo-sequel five years after A Brightness Long Ago, though it can be read independently. The novel draws on historical events including the Barbary Coast slave trade and the expulsion of Jews from Spain to examine themes such as power, revenge, trauma, healing, and identity. Two main characters, Rafel ben Natan and Nadia bint Dhiyan (also known as Lenia Serrano), drive the narrative forward. The Canadian and US dust jacket illustrations were designed by Lisa Jager.
