Moby Dyke 2023
Moby Dyke is a 2023 book written by Krista Burton that examines America's last lesbian bars while searching for reasons behind the industry's shrinking numbers as more people identify as LGBTQ+. Burton traveled to all twenty featured establishments at least twice during her research.
Her concern about the industry's reduction started in 2010 when she and her partner searched for a Chicago lesbian bar after relocating there. During the COVID-19 period, Burton was asked what she missed most—dyke bars—and discovered an agent but then realized how severe the industry's downturn had become.
